    Default A rare vagrant to India - Smew

    The Smew (Mergellus albellus) i is the only living member of the genus Mergellus. This species breeds in the northern taiga of Europe and Asia. This bird is very rare winter visitor in India. Since 3 years the female Smew is made its winter ground in the Teesta Barrage, Gajoldoda, West Bengal. The photograph was clicked in 24 Feb, 2020.
