    Default Yellow-headed Wagtail

Citrine Wagtail or Yellow-headed Wagtail (Motacilla citreola) photographed in Mangalajodi. It was quite close to the boat perched on a heap of vegetation. Not a very clean background, but thought of creating an image showing its natural habitat as is.

Canon 50D, Canon 100-400mm lens, 1/1000, f8, ISO 2000 (was using to capture birds in flight), hand held, full frame.

    Comments and critiques welcome.

Nice composition .The water body in the fore ground adds to the natural quality of the image .Cute little bird perched perkily on the mound of sticks . Thanks for sharing .

Looking at this image with the entire habitat gives a feeling of watching it directly from the boat. This image is far more representative of the situation. These weeds in Chilika are a part of the complex ecosystem. Some birds feed on these weeds and prune it making path for fishes. The birds perch on these weeds and the bird droppings enrich the water. Fish and other species devour the bird droppings. No wonder about 4 lakh fishermen earn their livelihood from Chilika.

Wagtails are pretty frisky and will only give a moment's notice to make an image before they move on. The image has been made well with the wagtail looking in the direction of water and the habitat nicely depicted. As Sabyasachi beautifully pointed out, the entire nexus of how one species feeds another and contributes to the entire ecosystem being maintained is critical and its good that there are some places where it can still be seen. Thanks for sharing.
