Such a young calf. The female elephants protecting it also seem to be young. Were there other elephants around? Like the way it is touching it's trunc in a reassuring way. Nice capture. Thanks for sharing.

Watching such a small calf is always a pleasurable experience. Elephants touch each other with their trunks for reassurance when any danger is around. I have seen that behaviour when noisy tourist vehicles are around and they have small calves to protect. As the elephants are taking mudbath few grass, leaves and flowers appear to be falling on the calf. It evokes my childhood memories of our mom and aunts offering rice to elephant and showering flower petals as an auspicious sign. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to see such a young one protected by adults. That young one may not have learned to use its trunk yet.We saw a slightly bigger one during our visit to Thekkady.
