Default The one with the exquisite antenna

    ID: Non biting midge(male)

An extreme close up shot of the non biting midge, spotted resting on the shrub, next to a water body. On frame it with extreme magnification, one can witness and admire the beautiful antennae that the male species possess. Almost resembling a mosquito, sans the penetrating proboscis, these wonders are usually misunderstood to be a mosquito and, atleast in the urban areas, killed.

    Canon 100mm macro + Raynox

Its amazing to see this minute midge so closely. What are the brush like hair? People just looking at something like a mosqito, might be killing it . Nice capture. Thanks for sharing.

Looks very interesting at this magnification. In naked eye, it is often difficult to discern the details. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
