Default The yellow and blue stripped beauty

    ID: Chondracris bengalensis

One of the regular sighting one can encounter while traversing the trail cum road, these hulk of a grasshopper, though in its juvenile stage, can be seen along the bushes, though spotting or identifying them is very difficult due to the way it blends to the fresh bloom of the trail. What stands out of this beauty is these stripes that it possesses beneath its eyes, and another peculiar stripe that it has on its back (a hint of it can be seen in the frame). Usually a very shy specimen, and tend to hop off into oblivion, this particular one was brave enough to stay kaput for a moment, long enough to get some close frames, later hopped off, though just onto the next blade of grass. A fully grown adult seems to grow as big as 64 to 85mm long, though this particular one was slightly smaller than the adult and due to the absence of wings make them hop around rather than flying off from danger.

This is real close, helps to see the stripes clearly. Good details. Did you try a vertical framing? Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a prancing horse head with lot of deformities.

Very interesting capture. Is this a crop? Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
