    Nice sighting in the open. The flickering tongue adds to the composition. Were you on foot when you photorgaphed this? Thanks for sharing.

    Nice image. It is Common Monitor (Varanus bengalensis).

    It is common throughout India and normally does not attain a length over four feet compared to Water Monitor (Varanus salvator) which may grow over six and a half feet. Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild

    This is looking nice. The side lighting has helped in accentuating the form of this monitor. Where was it photographed? Feel sad that some unscrupulous folks catch and sell it for so-called country medicine. Thanks for sharing.
