    Default The hidden cricket

    ID: Cricket?

While traversing the winter kissed, transitional, phase of seasons, could spot a few leaves that seemed to have closed in, almost as if hugging itself in the cold morning. But on close observation, realized that these were closed in/ held in by some or the other means by insects that have taken refuge, to hide themselves from the external world. Unsure if this particular one was done by a spider or naturally, due to intertwining of stems, there seemed to be a cricket that had kept itself deep inside the darkness of the leaves, almost still and, probably, keeping a tab on the external world through its, unusually, long antenna, which extended all the way out of the leaves. Either it was lethargic due to absence of sun’s heat, or it seemed to rest for the day time, considering their nocturnal behavior, this helped me to frame the beauty in this unique location

Nice spotting. Good details on the face area. The antennae are really so long, surely would be helping it to sense danger from far. Good capture. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely. Good that you could spot it. I would have loved a bit more depth of field. How much of a crop is this? Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

Sir, this is a mild crop, hardly 10% reduction for aspect ratio
