We were waiting for a Tiger to emerge from a thicket and suddenly this kite flew in and sat on a tree.It was nice to see it fly down.

In odia we call it Sankha Cheela. Sankha means Conch. During childhood days we used to consider it auspicious. These days, we have become far more modern and left behind our traditional thoughts and beliefs. So these days I don't see any such excitement in the current generation on Brahminy kite sightings.
These colorful birds look good when clicked. Thanks for sharing.

Yes Sabyaji!....you are absolutely right!.....Brahmini kite (Garuda or Krishna Parunthu in Malayalam)is the "Vehicle" of Maha Vishnu. The presence of this bird is considered auspicious. In Sabarimala during "Makaravilakku" a Kishna Parunthu (Brahmini Kite) appears. In many temples one can see this bird sitting.

The wing spread looks nice. Good you could photograph a few birds while waiting for the tiger. Look forward to more from the series. Thanks for sharing.
