Default A Big Gaur at Kabini!

Gaurs become alert on seeing the safari jeeps and give a long hard stare. After sometime they go about their business and dont give much attention to the safari vehicles!

    Regards

A big and strong female. Typical behaviour of gaurs photographed. Seems the light was bad, you were already using ISO 4000, so maybe just resting the camera for support would have helped in this case. Thanks for sharing.

Gaurs are the biggest bovid species in the world. They are even bigger than the cape buffalo. Watching a big fellow is always an experience.

Details are more important. Noise reduction often ruins details. If the vehicle engine is stopped then resting it on the vehicle increases the sharpness. Thanks for sharing.

Extraordinary specimen. May be about 0.8 tonner. A male would have been 1 tonner.
Morphologically it is a close to ground specimen, in M. Krishnan's words.

The size of any animal can best be gauged in comparison to the objects in the environment that surround it .A ground level shot or an environmental composition would have been best under the circumstances .Thanks for sharing .
