Nice to see this. Light is from the side. If you were shooting from the other side then the light would have been behind your back and you would have got a catchlight in the eye. Were you on foot? The eyes of the nightjar would dilate based on the available light. They remain so still that it becomes difficult to spot them. Thanks for sharing.

This bird is a delight to photograph. It is in the open on the ground in plain sight (if you are able to spot it), and gives time to photograph if not disturbed. Good details. The narrow aperture has helped. The low angle also adds to the composition. How were the sightings in Pocharam Wls? Thanks for sharing.
