Default Leopard scavenging a fresh gaur kill

    First post on this forum.

Spotted a male leopard scavenge a fresh gaur kill at Bandipur Tiger Reserve yesterday. It was a unique sight, as the predator was oscillating between its need to gorge on the kill and its fear of the tiger who was probably resting somewhere near coming back. Also have videos which I can share separately.

    Thanks

Very nice sighting. Tigers routinely kill gaurs. It is not possible for even an adult leopard to bring down a gaur. Nevertheless, when there is a chance leopard can feed on the carcass while being careful of not being ambushed by the returning tiger. Thanks for sharing.
