Default 600 mm not enough for you?

If you think 600mm is too short for your needs... check out this new monster... the ZEISS Apo Sonnar T* 4/1700

This monster has been around for a while. Came across it while browsing through the Dpreview website. This is although for a Hasselblad Medium Frame mount...

Interesting... But you'll probably have to rent a tank to move around in the field with that thing.

Seems in some years people will be only using above 1000mm focal length lenses. This is the start. That time we will talk about the days of the present series of lenses, like the way we now talk about the Film camera days .

It is quiet natural that such a monster was designed for a medium format camera. I am not sure what the person wants to photograph. Canon had a EF 1200mm f5.6 L lens. I remember seeing on of those lenses in the second hand market.

A few years from now, the advances in technology would ensure that the weight of such huge telephoto lenses are reduced.

    Cheers,

Wow, that sure is a monster, which may need a permanent fixture on a 4 WD to take it around (if not a tank!!).

Sorry guys, i was away on tour for a while (northern Europe where net connectivity is not as easy and costs a portion of the monster). Got back a few days ago. Hope to catch up on all that i had missed the past month. Hope to be regular from next week . . .

    regards
