I like the inclusion of the tree in the image. I feel black and white helps in elephant images, as you get a uniform tone in the elephant. The texture of the skin makes for interesting images. It is also a challenging subject to photograph head on, as the depth of field has to be sufficient to cover the eyes.
Any incident or memories that makes this special?

No nothing just that I happen to know this guy for the past few years and he is very gentle and trusting and lets me get very close. This was taken with a 50 mm lens.
