    Default Tiger - Kabini

    Nikon D200
AFS Nikkor 300mm F/4 IF ED Lens
    F/4 ,1/80 Sec ISO 200 -1.0EV

Unexpected Sight ! Little out of Focus since I Could not Change ISO to 400 and a Little Camera Shake Too (Hand Held in a Jeep)!
For me, It is always Special To See Tigers From Southern India So I Uploaded To Share This Picture. It Was Photographed on 31 - 01 - 2010 Sunday Early Morning around 7:30 AM

Always a great feeling to see a tiger in the wild in its natural habitat. I agree about the shake. You seem to have done most to make of the low light (F4 ,-1EV) but for the ISO. wish you had got that right.
    Was the jeep still on?

Lovely sighting. Nice stride and eye contact. Its good you got it nicely in the clear. You can try to use a bean bag while photographing from the jeep, or you can rest the camera somewhere, to reduce the vibrations. Increasing the ISO would have definately helped. How long was the sighting? Thanks for sharing.

I agree that a higher shutter speed would have been helpful. However, with lot of excited tourists in one vehicle, it is not easy.

Thanks Praveen and Vish. This Tigress frequents the stretch between segur gate and mastigudi gate (parallel to highway). We narrowly missed her on 31st Dec at mastigudi salt lick...

Vish - I find monopods very useful and handy especially in jeeps...

Good sight to see a stride of a tiger in wild. A little increase in saturation could help as well.

    Vishwanath, TFS a nice photo.
