    Default Lesser Fish Eagle (?)

Photographed this in Bandipur last month. I think it is a Fish eagle but confused because of the red eyes. Id please.

    Canon 50D, 100-400mm L IS USM, ISO 200, f7.1, 1/40, hand held

    Comments and critiques welcome.

It is an Oriental Honey Buzzard. The details are nice. A bit more space below would have been nice. The complex forms of the perch attract the eye away from the subject. Did you get shots of it looking the other way?

Agree with Roopak. This is an Oriental Honey Buzzard Male. The female has got yellow eyes.

I like the composition. The camera is perfectly aligned to the head. The sharpness is good despite the slow shutter speed of 1/40th of second. I think pulling down the exposure i.e slightly darkening the image would make the intricate web more noticeable and would enhance the image. Overall a fine image.

Lovely shot. Sharp at 1/40. Fantastic eye contact... Was not aware that the males had red eyes. I think you can pull down the branch highlights. Wish there were no branches behind its head and near the top. Would love to see a vertical of this if you have one.

    Thanks all for the comments.

I agree about the branch on the top, but the jeep stopped and I managed to get this photograph. It soon flew off, so didn't get time to recompose.
