The image feels a bit unnatural. You might want to relook the processing. The grass seems saturated. The composition is fine. Thanks for sharing.
The pose and eye contact is nice. Would have liked to see more details in the eye. Agree about reducing the saturation. You could have increased the ISO for a narrower aperture to get more details. Try reducing the brightness a bit. Thanks for sharing.

I don't know whether you were handholding or using a monopod. Narrow aperture would have been better but would have reduced the shutter speed. In compact cameras, ISO 200 would result in more of noise.
It is not easy to focus on the slender neck of the heron. Many photographers with DSLRs face the problem. The auto focus point either catches on to the vegetation infront or patterns in water behind the bird. Thanks for sharing.
