How come a coolpix? Wish you had clicked with your wide angle, so that the entire road would have be captured. The human mind always tries to make the connections - to complete the sequence or scene. May be some more space at the top and less at the bottom would have been even better.

ISO 64 reminds me of the slide days.

    Sabyasachi,

We had gone cycling from kollur a piligrim site in karnataka to jog falls, i had taken the P&S so that i can cycle easily. I didnt take the SLR as the weight would prevent me from cycling

    Default Good shot

    Great shot

The commonest problem with such bends is that while you stand there, your eyes can see the complete grandeur from side to side; but the camera's vision is not as panoramic so the photo is somewhat less than what you see... Moreover camera catches depth in only one direction while eyes do in all directions.

The other problem is you can't back up too far without falling off the cliff
    LOL

I once had a house at this kindda bend so i did several experiments, including a panoramic shot. Equally bad results.

What i wanna do, and am inviting suggestions:
Put up my 28mm lens on a stand. Insert two poles in the ground as markers.
And then revolve the camera to take 3 independent shots and then stitch them on a machine (and not use camera's panorama stiching)
My guess is that it should give me some satisfaction. has someone tried this?

Photography and paintings are different. Painters start with a blank canvas and add elements. In case of photography, you exclude distracting elements to get a pleasing composition. So images often don't come as good as expected.

There are panaromic heads available for smooth panning. In the film days, we used to do it very carefully, using markings etc so that the images match. It becomes easier if there are some objects in the field of view to align the camera as well.

These days, the cameras or software do a decent job in stitching.

    Cheers,

Nice image. The tree in the centre attracts attention. I agree about a bit more space on the top than at the bottom. The greenery is nice. Could you take any images of the valley? Thanks for sharing.

    Cycling!

Fantastic. Still I wish you had just fixed the wide angle to the 40D and driven.
