    Default Spot Billed Duck

    Hi,
    This is my 1st upload with Canon - 7D and 100-400 L

    F 5.6 | S 1/1250 | ISO 200 | Exp + 0.7

Shot at my favorite place - Nandur Madhyameshwar Bird Sanctuary, Nasik.

Sure about critiques, had some mistakes in AF point selection.

The take off pose is nice. Seems you missed the AF point. Increasing the ISO further for a narrower aperture would have been good. You clicked in all AF point selected mode? Wish you had clicked a moment earlier to get better eye contact. I would have liked a bit more space all around. What are the dots just near the tail? Look forward to more from 7D. Thanks for sharing.

    Sagar,
I agree with Mrudul. The birds were just passed you so the eye contact is not great. You need to track and there is a small area before it passes you when the eye contact will be great.

The positives from this image is the completely upstroke of the wings. So timing in that sense is right.

Keep on visiting and trying your new camera. I am sure soon you will be comfortable with the camera and lens.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

Hi Mrudul/Sabyasachi, bit sharpening is done in Canon's Digital photo professional software. There was confusion about fixed AF points, it was changed on either side and not in total frame.
I yet to study the cam fully. Till date I could find only 40% of settings and capabilities of cam.. Yet to practice hard

    Agree about Eye contact issue.
    Thanks & Regards
