    Default Single horned Chinkara

Encountered this single horned Chinkara during yesterday's visit to Mayureshwar Sanctuary at Supa, about 35kms from Baramati, few kms from Moregaon.
All of a sudden saw it, probably it was busy with its nature calls, standing just about 20-25 metres from me. Unfortunately didnt have my cam ready in my hands and by the time I could take it out, it started running away.

    Unicorn!

That was the thought I first came to my mind when I saw this. At one point of time, the single horned rhino (from Assam, dudhwa, nepal etc ) used to be killed thinking it has a single horn like a unicorn.

I like the low angle. Good to see this one from Mayureshwar Sanctuary. Have never visited there, nor have seen images from there. Look forward to other images from this place as well. And if possible, you can write a short note about this place in the wilderness updates.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi
PS: It seems Roopak and myself were posting at the same time.

Thank you for your valuable comments,

Actually I could not get great shots of the chinkaras as they were very far off, thats why I havent uploaded other photos. Also we reached pretty late at the sanctuary, 7:30 a.m., which was probably wasnt the ideal time as the Chinkaras were not easily spottable during the hot morning.

This is a nice record image. Did you use the digital zoom? There seems to be some loss of detail. I am sure you will have your camera ready next time . Still, it is good that you could capture this.
I haven't heard of this sanctuary... Could you provide more details about it? You can do so in the "Wilderness Updates" section.

Well digital zoom wasnt used...may be because I was moving around on the bike that motion could have resulted in the loss of detail.
I shall surely update the details of the sanctuary

I liked the displayed habitat. It would have been great to have it facing towards you, Maybe next time . Going early in the morning is also better to get some good light, as nowadays the light becomes harsh by 9-9.30. Look forward to more from Mayureshwar. Thanks for sharing.
