    Default Hamsons Hedge Hopper

Chanced upon this on a family and friends outing to Amba Ghat , South maharashtra.

The skipper has been identified as a Hampsons Hedge Hopper and this seems to be the first record from Maharashtra!

So people from Maharashtra, do keep a lookout for this butterfly and inform about future sightings.

    Panasonic FZ28 , 1/125 , F8 , Forced flash.

Good to know that you got such a record. One should always have a camera in hand as one doesn't know what to expect.

    Cheers,

Very nice Vikram! Great to see this species. Look forward to more documentation on this. Where is Amba Ghat?

Its nice you could record this species. Thanks for sharing the information.

Abhishek, If I am not wrong Amba Ghat is in the Western Ghats after crossing Kolhapur and while going towards Ratnagiri (Konkan).

Agree with Sabyasachi . One of the reasons to shift from a dslr to a megazoom was to have a camera around everywhere .

Mrudul is right about the location. We had taken an alternate route from Karad via Malkapur. It's shorter by 60km and more scenic.

It's definitely a place worth exploring.
