Common palm civet also called Toddycat .For people living in the kerala country side not a rare species nor difficult to spot. It is however tough to photograph as you get to see them mostly in the night. Any one really keen to see them is welcome to visit my place sometime... bread and boarding is on the house (Limited period exclusive offer to Indiawilds members ) and you will get an assured sighting any given day.

    Thats right sir.
The animal is known for consuming palm sap which when fermented becomes Toddy. Some say they also get at the pots fixed on coconuts palms for collecting the Sap and sometimes breaking them (not sure of this ). I guess one of the local names ' Kalunni " is also of this fame. Kal means Toddy in malayalam.
