Congregation (Of Toads!!)

I found these 13 (!) Common Toads under a staircase at Bhitarkanika, Orissa in Jan 2009. Could someone explain this behaviour?

I think, to get rid of low temp in winter (Taken in JAN), this may be the trick to get warm feel.

That is what even I think, some amphibians are known to aestivate (rest for a long period) ALONE... but 13 of them?

Cant speak of the behaviour.... but it is definitely a lovely picture.... !!! very unusual to see so many of them together...???
looks like they are discussing world affairs.... Global warming perhaps....???? wish some one cud decipher animal language and post on this forum something of that sort....
