Smile Rahul Parekh: New Friend at India Wilds... :)

    Dear Friends,

New cub is born in the jungle of India wilds... will you come to greet me…?

My obsession for wildlife is since childhood, but became true passion when I seriously decided to be a wildlife artist, and I quit my IT professional job. Today I'm fulltime Professional Wildlife Artist.

The deadly decision was not very easy for me, but to make my childhood dream come true & to do something different for wildlife conservation and awareness. I took the sturdy decision, and I'm really very happy with my wildlife art & my decision today. Wildlife art has given me enough opportunity to pursue my other interest like wildlife photography, birding, reading, writing and many more…

I'm really thankful to Mr. AB Apana for suggesting this active forum, and truly appreciating Mr. Sabyasachi Patra's lovely & positive effort to convey the messages of wildlife conservation with wildlife photography. I'll surely, freely & actively share my views, thoughts, feelings and experiences about wildlife conservation at this forum.

I'll always learn something new everyday from you all friends. Wish you all a wonderful, peaceful & successful life in the wild.

    With all best wishes,

    Sincerely,
    Rahul Parekh

    Hi Rahul,
    Welcome to IndiaWilds!

It takes enourmous courage and conviction to follow your heart and take up wildlife art as profession.

Please post your photo here, so that we can "id" you in the field.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

PS: I prefer to be called Sabyasachi rather than more formal or informal versions.

    Hi Sabyasachi,

Yes, one has to take extreme steps to cross the desert, but satisfaction is like to find a water resource in the never ending desert . I'm heartily enjoying my wildlife art and with it I always - 24X7 keep in touch with the nature & wildlife, isn't it amazing!

I herewith post my image for ID

    Cheers...

    Hi Abhishek,

Thank you so much for your very kind words of appreciation. I really loved that you liked my wildlife art, and become more happy to know that you are also paint birds...

Oh! Please don't feel disappoint by your work, and never compare your work with any artists. Have your own style of painting. Follow Trial & Error method to learn new things every time....

As I've not seen your work, but one more thing to remember. Give importance to the drawing first instead painting. Improve your drawing to achieve perfect representation of the wildlife subject . Yes, this is very difficult but not impossible . This is the key to paint beautiful wildlife paintings...

All best wishes & have lots of success in your studies and in your new passion. Enjoy....

    Cheers, Rahul

I am terrible in drawing. I had difficulty even drawing frog, toad etc for the zoology practicals. However, I know atleast this much that one needs to have knowledge of anatomy of the animal or bird to draw successfully. Unless you are drawing a caricature.

I believe in critiques. Though lot of people in India, don't like it. I saw a few paintings of one gentleman. The bird was too tight in the frame. The eye contact was just not right, I mean the head was turned away. If these are pointed out, then the artist feels offended.

There is one photographer by the name Nigel Dennis. A very good photographer. He had started as a painter and wanted to click to get the required frames for painting. He then became a very good photographer. Similarly, Abhishek has started photographing first, but he may end up as a great painter.

All the best to both of you guys.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

    Hi Sabyasachi,

Good to hear from you again. Yes, to draw a perfect animal or bird, one has to understand the anatomy of the creature at basic level at least, but to paint wildlife one has to understand the every elements of the nature in detail...to give life to the composition.

I hope that gentleman is not me.. . I feel by giving critiques not only one feel insulted but it also destroy moral/confidence of the artist/photographer, if s/he is very sensitive in nature in life and about his/her work. So, i keep myself away from true words(always harsh/hard to swallow) sometimes..instead give my views or offer help to improve work .

Yes, Nigel Dennis is wonderful photographer. I didn't know that he was once wildlife artist!!!! Only Passion can make everything possible & achievable....

Thank you so much for your your lovely words of encouragement and wonderful information .

    All best wishes,

    Cheers,
