    Default Info on Rollapadu WLS

I recently went to Rollapadu WLS in AP. I really didn't have a lot of info before going to this place but I must admit that I wasn't disappointed once I was there. The grasslands although lot smaller in size compared to LRK reminded me of it. I was pretty sure that there were no bustards there but at the same time wanted to try my luck with other migrating birds. Among the fauna we saw plenty of harriers and other migrating birds.

The downside obviously was the poor maintenance of the Andhra government. A place that could easily turn into a birdwatcher/photographer's winter paradise is now just another shabby farming land. The forest officials are uninformed and options extremely limited. I have been told that there are no bustards left here which is extremely sad as the terrain is perfect for them to reside. Im planning to visit the place once again sometime during Jan/Feb with better planning and information to know more about Rollapadu - Andhra's very own Kutch.

I have documented my short experience in a small blog (present in the link in my signature). Everyone is invited to add as much info as possible in the comment section.

Finally here's one of the shots from the trip of a lone male BB staring into my camera.

    Thanks

    Supreet,
Good to know that you visited Rollapadu. Poorly maintained place.

This section has been specifically created for people to post their views and experiences of wilderness areas in detail. The only reason why I have created this IndiaWilds forums and have kept if free from commercials is to build in a community who can further the cause of wildlife. I encourage everyone to write and evangelise about conservation issues. However, I would appreciate if people write here. Else, people will get into a competition with each other in creating blogs to promote their name, commercialise it etc etc.

Newsletter goes to many people so anyone posting here is noticed. Having said that, I allow members to place links to their website, blog etc in the signature. I have modified your signature to include your links, so whenever you post, those links appear. And your signature will appear on all posts not just on discussion forums but also on the wildlife photography section.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

Totally agree with you Sabyasachi sir - infact I would have loved to script the entire event here but somehow liked the format of the microblogging site a little better. Thanks for creating the signature, this is what i was looking for but could not get the option.

    Thanks
    Supreet
