    Default mating snails

    these mating snails was shot at 13,750 ft with ambient temperature below 10 deg Celsius. i didn't know if snails survive at that altitude and temperature. ID not known. shot with 7D with Tamron 18-270, f/5.6, 1/125, iso 640, fl 154 mm, manual mode. c&c pl.

    A nice natural history moment captured. Experts please help with the id. Its good to know they survive at such high altitude and extreme temperature. Thanks for sharing this information.

    Nice image.Its news to me that snails survive at such low temperatures, thanks for enlightening.Interesting documentation.

    I must confess that I have neither seen snails mating, may be because I had never looked for those. However, I agree that this is a nice piece of documentation and I would rate it higher than a cropped image of some tiger looking left or right.

    It would be good to have some more details about the place for the purpose of documentation. Thanks for sharing.

    thanks for comments. the place where the snails were located is Tsitapuri in Arunachal. it is a pilgrimage for Bhuddists at about 13000 to 14000 ft. place is accessed on foot, taking 5-8 days. tropical rain forest to alpine vegs. locals told me that musk deer ?eat these snails when snow carpets the grass & also it proves a danger to travelers when stepped accidentally on it, causing imbalance and eventual fall may be.
