    Default Flapping wings after bath

    Bharatpur, Keoladeo Ghana National Park.

    dabchick flapping wings after bathing.

I wanted the wingblur to create a sense of motion.

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII, ISO 200, f13, 1/125, EV: +1/3, Full frame image.

Can someone mention the breeding details. I think the breeding period is around Nov-December. I will only be able to check the book tomorrow.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

    Shri Sabyasachi,
Dabchick or Little Grebe (Podiceps ruficollis)
    Bengali:Pandubi, Hindi:Laokri,Dubdubi
(a)The dabchick's nest is a pad of sodden weedstems placed on partly submerged floating plants. The eggs-3 to 5-are white when laid but soon become dirty and discoloured through contact with the sodden grasses with which the bird covers them up each time it leaves the nest on disturbance or for feeding. The diminutive downy chicks are striped, and often carried about riding on parent's back.
(b)They build their nests during the months between April to October in the jheels or wetlands in and around Kolkata and in other parts of West Bengal.

    Kind regards,
    SaktiWild

Nice image, this is typical behavior of flapping the wings displayed nicely. I remember an image that I shot recently at Kabini where I managed the wingblur motion, but it turned something different. I will share it in a while.

Saktipada ji thanks for the info

Nice environment photograph. The wing flapping behavior is nicely captured. The eye is sharp. Good details. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the detailed information, Saktipadaji.
