    Default Big Fat Munching Machine!

Had photographed this huge caterpillar in my backyard last year just as the monsoon ended. I loved the colours and the chubby look of this fellow . It was about 3-4 inches long and at least 1.5 inches in girth. ID help needed.

    Canon 500D, 100mm Macro USM
    SS 1/200
    AV 18.0
    ISO 200
    Flash fired

    Thanks, C&C awited.

Lovely colours and details. The colours looks in an animated movie . Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with Mrudul. It has come out well. The top right hand part is a bit bright due to the reflection of the flash light. I live the bottom left part. The texture there has come out well. I think people will start liking macros after getting to see such details. Cropped?

Sabyasachi: Yes, cropped to a vertical. Clicked as a horizontal frame to get an appropriate angle of the built-in flash.

Hawk moth catterpilar. Next time you find one in the garden, rear it indoors . Good fun.

The details , esp the chubby folds and the purple false eye is what I find most interesting. How would a closer crop feel ?
