    Default ranthambore safari

    hi friends
I am visiting ranthambore soon after a long time . Is it better to book gypsy safari in advance with the hotel or to book at the spot. I have been told by the hotel that the rate is 1400 per person (welcome resort) . Is it possible to have an individual vehicle ? is it possible to have a walking safari??
    advice is much appreciated.
    Regards

    Dear Rajeev,

For Gypsy availability, check : http://rajasthanwildlife.com/ The official charge is ~ Rs.528/- per seat for a Gypsey. So the rest is the premium that the resort is charging you.

Its always better to book in advance, however there is a racket in ranthambhore wherein all gypsey seats online from October to April are sold out within a couple of days opening. May and June are the off seasons from the tourism point of view, the oppressive heat is the reason for that. However sightings are highest in May and June as the tigers wallow all day in the few remaining water bodies. Of course from the photography point of view, the light is harsh unless you have the good fortune to be in the right place at the right time.

No walking safaris permitted. Unless you want to walk from the entry gate to the ganesh temple in the fort.

Certainly you can book an entire gypsy and be alone in it, you will have to pay 528x6= 3168/-. Please remember that IDs are checked at the gate so avoid going in somebody else's name or you will be harassed at the gate. Some Gypsys are also booked on the spot, If you have the energy ,you could queue up at the booking office a couple of hours before safari time and try your luck.

    Hope this has been helpful.

    Cheers
    Dipankar
