Water snow flat butterfly clicked at Mahabaleshwar.
Need some help with the PP . How do I recover details from the right wings which are in shadows?

Vikram,
Hadn't seen this species before. There is a shadow/highlight slider somewhere in the "Image" tab in PS7 if I remember correctly. When you open up the shadows, you need to keep an eye on and appropriately adjust the highlights as well. It looks like the highlights on the sunlit wing are burnt. Harsh lighting conditions here.

Nice to see this species. Seems the light was harsh. Thanks for sharing.

Slightly tough situation due to the dark area at the bottom. Whenever there are white flowers, it becomes difficult to expose as the dynamic range of the camera becomes insufficient to handle the situation. Good to see a new species. Thanks for sharing.

I guess this image will have to be kept as it is. Light was harsh. Dynamic range is always a struggle with the tiny sensor of my Lumix Fz28 . The benefits of having a small system are so many that I am still reluctant to go back to the SLR.
Abhishek , First time I saw this at Mahabaleshwar. Had seen it earlier at Coorg. The MTDC canteen at mahabaleshwar has some displays made by BNHS about flowers, birds , animals and butterflies seen around mahabaleshwar. Interesting to note that this species was shown on the butterflies poster.
