Nice image, good eye contact. Loved the open beak. Would have placed the sparrow slightly higher up in the frame. TFS

Nice eye contact and catch lite. The bird has carefully managed the perch....between two sharp thorns.

I grew up semi-urban areas with these birds chirping around. In the last few years I have been missing them. Nice to see this image.

Beneath the photograph of a sparrow looking out from inside the gap of bricks and slabs, written are these words:

"When you wake up to read these lines notice whether you hear a sparrow chirping outside your window. The absence of sparrows might not be of any importance for most but these little birds are screaming long for attention. Our lensman spots one on the World Sparrow Day with the hope to help them.On Tuesday.Sailendra Mal"
    -The Statesman,Dated,Kolkata,The 21st. March,2012

    These words are touching.

    Thanks all for the comments.

Saktipadaji, thanks for quoting those wonderful words. I do hope these birds are saved and we can see them again chirping around our houses.

Nice amount of space on top to put World Sparrow Day text for a greeting card.

Background has come out nicely diffused. If not for the cobwebs on the right, I would have cropped that. So I agree with the composition. The reflection in the eye has come out well. One can make out that this image was taken from a very close distance and not cropped large.

    Cheers,

Nice image Mrudul. Looks like the sparrow just ate something or is holding onto something in its mouth. The bg is also lovely. I have some good news, for almost 5 years in the area where I live I could only spot a sparrow couple and I used to think these 2 are the only ones now . But off late I have been seeing a sudden burst of sparrows around my place. Will try to photograph and post some images.

    Lovey image mrudul.No nits.

The sparrows story is perhaps a tragedy with which most us will identify. The SC judgement on radiation effects was a big dampner. With all due respect to the SC's wisdom this is one ugly thruth which we cant simply wish away or keep under legal warps....
