    Default Bloated leech

a leech feeding at my ankle has ballooned. i bled for quite sometimes, the effect of hirudin an anti-coagulant secreted by leeches. this is the little reward for stalking innocent birds.

Nice to see this species. We almost always regard them as a nuisance, but one can't be thankful enough for the contribution of these little fellows in the field of medicine. Did you shoot a sequence?

Oh you had the patience of clicking a photograph when it was actually stuck on you We had a real bad experience with leeches while shooting the Lion Tailed Macaques for the film. Nice closeup. Hadn't seen it so closely. Thanks for sharing.

I suffered massively due to leech bites.

I am told they put the leeches to restart blood flowing through some veins after damage in accidents and surgeries.

When you pull the leech its teeth remains inside and causes itching sensation later. Better to insert a sharp object below and its suction cup/vacuum is broken and it will come off.
