Sambhar deer licking ground
Spotted these two female Sāmbhar deers in Sariska tiger reserve during the morning safari.
Fail to understand why these two are licking the ground, Might be for salt?
Canon 7D, 100-400 @ 320mm, F7.1, 1/630, ISO 400.

Seems there was a salt lick which has gone dry. The low angle is nice. Good eye contact. The habitat looks very dry and arid. Thanks for sharing.

They are looking for minerals. Most of the animals do that. This appears to be a salt lick as Mrudul has mentioned.
