Hi,
I don't know if this is good news, but it is certainly relieving news. The second leopard (a female) that had been doing the rounds of the area seems to have managed to get back into the...
The second leopard has been sighted at a village called Kendupatna, a few kilometres upstream of Gandarpur where the male was killed. This second leopard appears to be a small-ish female. It was seen...
Following is a press release issued by Wild Orissa on the killing of a leopard that had strayed out of the Chandaka-Dampada Wildlife Sanctuary near Bhubaneswar on 13th January 2011.
Ref. No.:...
Hi Mayank,
That's no 'favour' to ask for my friend :-). Rest assured that we will be closely following the progress of this relocation and the sincerity of its implementation.
A lot is at...
Hello everyone,
In between my random disappearances and most unexpected appearances (:P), here's a piece of good news:
News has come in that the largest village in the core area of Similipal...
Nice behavourial shot here Atul, thanks for sharing.
Bibhav, canines and felines often eat grass to neutralise toxins that might have entered their digestive systems. A lot of times I've seen my...
I used the word 'contrast' for the lack of a better word in my vocabulary at the point. Sorry, its confusing!
I meant the difference between the aperture and shutter values. Yes, difference...
Thanks Bibhav.
I agree about the noise, but I can't figure out why its there. ISO 400 is usually very clean from the K 10D. Even with ISO 800, I never have to run noise reduction on my images-...
Yeah, I set the shutter speed and aperture manually to get both speed and depth. I let the camera do the metering and get the exposure right by setting the ISO by itself.
Yeah, the tree line in...
With the monsoons comes the rutting and mating season of blackbucks. The does form enormous herds and the bucks spend almost all their waking hours rutting and fighting- often until death- over their...
This is indeed interesting. May be Vikram could throw some light on this?
I like the way you have composed this image.
Cheers,
Aditya
This idea no doubt is stupid, to say the least.
However, if keeping YSR alive in the memory of the people of Andhra is the purpose of this whole thing, then perhaps the most fitting thing that the...
All the best Apana, hope to see you back on the forums soon.
Cheers,
Aditya
Wow! Unusual to see PENTAX news in India!
Being one of the only two PENTAX users on this forum, and one of the handful in this country, let me indulge in some brand loyalty :D The K-x is a solid...
Well that is the tragedy of letting the states have complete monopoly of wildlife conservation. After a lot of efforts on the part of some conservationists and officers, tough lobbying and a lot...
Thanks guys. Have some other compositions, will share those too. This was meant to be a close up portrait. Have experimented with scapes, etc. Will share them soon.
Cheers,
Aditya
Thanks Praveen. I think its not a lack of sharpness but a lack of depth of field that you're talking about. Since I used a relatively long focal length from a very short distance at a wide aperture...
I was pretty excited by my first wild sighting of this species. I had been familiar with it before through newspapers and news channels. They are illegally collected and exported to southeast Asian...
Hehe! I dare not do that with a sloth bear!:p
I used f/4 because I was shooting this handheld, the bear was walking in pretty fast and light was also low as it was a cloudy (and later rainy)...
The evaluation is over now and detailed reports are awaited. Preliminary grading can be seen here: http://www.envfor.nic.in/pt/State_PT.pdf

The standard 3:2 aspect ratio simply didn't work for this image. So trying this 4:5 ratio. Do let me know what you think of it.

Nice composition. Looks like a juvenile. Would personally like exposure increased by a stop or half.

Difficult to get bird. Where was this shot? I think you have lost details because of using Neat Image or other such noise removal software. Over sharpening and overuse of noise removal always ruins...
Many photographers in India will bless you for this! If this functions just as well, I'd personally like one. Please show us the tripod you made too.
Cheers,
Aditya
This is a female grey jungle fowl, not a spur fowl. The composition works for me.
