A view of Tirthan Valley from Shilt in the Great Himalayan National Park. The forests in the foreground, consisting primarily of Deodar (Cedrus deodara), abound with Himalayan Monals, Koklass pheasants and the extremely elusive Western Tragopan. The snow-clad upper reaches are said to harbour wild goats & sheep and Snow Leopards, among other mammals.
This sight was the reward of a steep 4 hour trek from Rola to Shilt (at 3100m).
