    Default Pir Panjal Himalayas

A view of the massive Pir Panjal range from jalori, Himachal Pradesh.
This range extends from Azad Kashmir in the north-west to the Beas river (Himachal Pradesh) in the south-east. It is the range that separates Kashmir from the surrounding low-lying plains.

Managed to accomplish a long-standing objective of photographing the Himalayas with foreground snow, without freezing my 500D . Although there were expanses of snow, the air temperature was 21C. This is a wide-perspective crop, not a pano stitch.

    Canon 500D, Canon 18-55mm IS @ 30mm
    SS 1/1000
Av 8.0 (could have easily afforded a narrower aperture)
    ISO 100
Cropped strips from the top and bottom

    Thanks, C&C welcome.

Lovely view of the Himalayan range. The pano composition with the snow in the foreground and the peaks in the background look nice. Its good that you got it on a clear day. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

That is the part of Kashmir which is occupied by Pakistan and a part of which is given to China as well. Can't get into history, but wonder why India agreed for a ceasefire without driving away the pakistan army regular dressed up as tribals.

A narrow aperture would have been better as the foreground is not in focus and more of the foreground is seen in this image.

abhishek-I was reffering to the misnomer they use 'Azad'. In any case it is an issue of how one interprets history or the idea of independence for that matter.

    Quoting from wiki
Brad Adams the Asia director at Human Rights Watch has said in 2006

Although ‘azad’ means ‘free,’ the residents of Azad Kashmir are anything but, The Pakistani authorities govern Azad Kashmir with strict controls on basic freedoms"

man politics is so predictibly boring.
