    Default Himalayan Bulbul (Record)

Himalayan Bulbul (Pycnonotus leucogenys), photographed in Nagni, Himachal Pradesh.

Older editions of bird guides mention this bird as a race of the white-eared bulbul (P. leucotis). The length and forward curvature of the crest is diagnostic of these northern birds, now a separate species. The white-eared bulbul's range as a species is presently restricted to the NW part of the subcontinent.

    Thanks, C&C welcome.

The crest looks nice. The eye contact is good too. Though the depth of field is nearly there due to the crop. So I think trading of about 2/3rd stop of shutter speed for aperture might have been even better. Thanks for sharing.

It looks more than a record image . The crest looks nice. Good eye contact with catchlight. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks all.
Mrudul: "Record" because of the large crop, steep angle and for photographing without composing.
