    Default Lesser Coucal_Manas National Park

A typical tall grassland bird..the widespread grassland of Manas adjacent to forest is a good place to see them...smaller in size than Greater Coucal and it's eyes are black. Best seen in April-May in Manas....

Nice perch. The head turn and the eye contact looks good. Some noise can be seen in the background. Liked the long talons. Thanks for sharing.

Nice pose and eye contact, looks a bit over sharpened...the prominent spikes of this species are clearly visible here.

Nice image. Notable feature is black eyes vis-a-vis red eyes. The chestnut colour of the of upperparts of the bird is dull in our place. Is it so bright in case of Centropus bengalensis bengalensis of Manas? Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild

You have got it in the clear. The black eye tells us the difference. We don't often see the feet of the coucal. Given the reed it is perched on, one can guess that it is lighter. Thanks for sharing.
