    Default Skittering Frog | Monochrome

Indian Skittering Frog (Euphlyctis cyanophlyctis) with its twin vocal sacs inflated. Photographed on a laterite plateau in Manipal, Karnataka.

This is a very common species of frog that is quite widespread in the subcontinent. It is very closely associated with water bodies and is almost always found floating at the surface. The frog gets its name from its habit of rapidly 'skipping' along the surface.
This species is often sought by photographers for its reflection. I waited for a few minutes till it was accustomed to my presence, for a shot with the vocal sacs inflated.

    SS 1/200
    Av 8.0
    ISO 400
    Built-in flash used
Post-crop vignetting to darken the edges (mainly the foreground)

    Thanks, C&C welcome.

Nice one. To the uninitiated, at first sight, this can give an impression of a deformed creature.

The reflection looks nice. Good details. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.
