    Default Caterpillar in mid-air ! ;)

    Shot near Karnala.
This is an image of a caterpillar (no idea which one, it is often called the "inchworm" and moves in a looping manner like a leech) descending from a higher branch using its silken thread. Caterpillars can secrete silk from their spinnerets, just like spiders do.
Used flash to darken the BG and the thread.

Camera Model Name Canon PowerShot SX10 IS
    Shooting Mode : Manual
    Tv (Shutter Speed) : 1/400
    Av (Aperture Value) : 5.0
    ISO Speed : 100
Flash : On, medium output, used a piece of cloth as a diffuser.
    Shutter curtain sync : 1st-curtain

Cropped, played around with levels and curves.

Thanks for looking, comments and critiques awaited.

Nice composition. The dark BG adds to the image. Keep experimenting. Look forward to more..

Interesting, would have preferred the caterpillar larger in the frame.

    Thanks everyone.
Apana, this was photographed from a watchtower, I stretched my arms as far out as I could and clicked (would have fallen over if I tried to get closer). Then I cropped to this frame (around 50%). So probably not possible to have it larger...
