    Default Blue Rock Thrush--Male

Monticola Solitarius is a winter visitor from Baluchistan.Sighted in the Shivgari trails of Chikmaglur district of Karnataka March 2016.Most of the time he sat perched alone on roof tops making quick aerial darts to capture flying insects, and rarely venturing into the surrounding forests which was mainly dominated by bulbul families.Luckily I managed to capture him on this stump early one morning. The white washed cemented roof tops probably reminded him of the rocky terrain of his breeding grounds in Baluchistan. The locals said that he had been a regular visitor for the last three years arriving in Dec and departing by the end of march.Nikon7100+200-500 1/120s ISO800 F/7.1.

Great to see this bird. Slight increase in contrast would be good. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
