Wasp (id?)

Photographed this wasp today at Karnala near Mumbai. Had been to Karnala on a bird watching trip, but sighting this beauty made my day

Need ID help... From its behaviour, habitat and body structure, it seemed to be some species of Digger Wasp. The colours are unusual for a digger wasp though.
