    Default Pipit ?

    Is this some kind of a pipit ? was photographed at the Marudhamalai hills (Coimbatore) almost a year ago . . .

    400D, 150-500 APO, F 6.3, 1/100, Handheld, No crop.

    Nice Image Rajan saab.The eye contact, details and pose are Grt. BG is super.
    Looks like a lark to me.Closest i can get to is Indian bush lark. Not sure though.Larks are a tough lot to ID without a feild guide.

    This looks like a Lark to me.In Pipit tail would have been longer.Nice image anyway.TFS

    Not very sure but it looks like a Syke's crested lark female to me.

    Bill looks like that of Ashy crowned sparrow lark's (female). Since the image was from Marudhamalai (foot hills of W.Ghats) I suppose it is Ashy crowned sparrow lark.

    Ashy crowned sparrow lark is different.This seems to be a bush lark.

    Could be jerdons as well. Kazmierczak feild guide says the shorter tail is indicative of jerdons. also the location seems to favour that. but jerdons generally show a lot more Rofous on the wing while perched.

    Sorry, This could be a Female ashy crowned sparrow lark also.Very difficult to distinguish from Indian Bush lark.But I love them all

    Lovely pose and eye contact. The clean background adds to the image. Nice details. Wish the perch was natural. Thanks for sharing.
