Various states have been making demands for reduction of the speed of trains while passing through forest areas. However, Indian Railways has not shown sensitivity towards the situation. As a result elephants and many other animals continue to get killed.

Time has come for one of the State Governments to give a shock to the Railways by impounding the train. The forest departments by rule are supposed to impound any vehicle that hits and kills our wildlife. Till date, the forest departments have not taken any action on the railways.

The responsibility of maintaining power lines lies with the distribution companies. Earlier there was demand to release CAMPA funds as the distribution companies expressed their inability to maintain the lines. Now the State Government is going to use tax payers money to maintain the lines. It is really unfortunate that the Private power distribution companies are going scot free.
