    Default Spitting Spider series (#1)

I was shooting this lone Spitting Spider (Scytodes sp.) when suddenly a pair of mating gnats(?) landed right in front of it. The spider proceeded to attack and eat the gnats.
I kept firing bursts throughout, but since the light was bad, not all the shots in the sequence came out sharp. However, I did manage to get a few decent images which can give an idea of the sequence of events.
This is the first image of the series. Will post more info along with the following images.

Canon EOS 500D, Canon 100mm Macro USM
    Aperture-Priority AE
    Tv 1/80
    Av 6.3
    EC -2/3
    ISO 1600
    Flash Off
    Hand held.
Regret that I accidentally clipped the legs

    Thanks, C&C welcome.

Nice details. A quite rare natural history moment you could witness and photograph. I agree including the legs would have been better. Wish the light was good. Did the spider eat the gnats ? Look forward to more in the series. Thanks for sharing.

Nice natural history moment. The water drop is the secretion from the spider? I agree that some more space at the bottom would enhance the image. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks both.
Sabyasachi: The water is just a raindrop. The secretion of the spider solidifies almost immediately on contact with air, so one would not see it in the liquid form.

Legs clipped or not, I love this image.
