Default Traffic sense on Crazy weekends..

This mother and calf had to wait for a good twenty Mins before they could cross the road in Bandipur this weekend. Traffic thru bandipur was heavy and people did all sorts of crazy things to harass them. One guy got his pic taken while he took a leak standing quite close to the animals. I was hoping the mother would charge. Wouldve been some sight .....

Roads open up the forests for destruction. This has been proved over and over again in various wilderness places around the world. Unfortunately, the human race with such a big brain (with respect to their body mass) displays the IQ of a mosquito. *

Unless the alignment of roads are changed, these sad incidents will continue.

PS: * The similarities between mosquitoes and human race doesn't end there. We are prolific breeders as well like mosquitoes. These two races have been in war since time immemorial, and neither has been able to score a decisive victory.

A nice capture. The anguish of the mother elephant is evident.

There is a severe disrespect shown on wildlife and this menace is seemingly unending. To upset these gentle giants is disgrace. That too being right in their home.

We identified 2 roadkills in a day last week in the Ooty - Mysore road near Sigur (Not the main Ooty - Mysore road passing through Gudalur). In the night a newborn Sambar fawn was seperated from its mother owing to traffic and honking of horns.
