Default Jackal mating series - 1

Its was a very nice experience to see 14 Jackals gathered at one spot. Three pairs are actually trying for mating and I got photographs of two pairs mating. This was a really rare chance and moment for me too.

Good sighting and wonderful moment captured Atul.

A cooperative and receptive female would move its tail to the side and allow the male to get a good hold. This is called flagging.

This is called the mating tie.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Akshay

Sighting 14 jackals is quite rare. You are really lucky to witness the mating. The eye contact is nice. Wish the angle was less steep. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to more in the series.

Good to hear that you have sighted so many jackals. Moving a bit to the right would have ensured both the jackals are in focus. What was the aperture and shutter speed?
