    Default Asiatic water buffalo

    Dear All,
Asiatic water buffalo from the Eastern Zone of the Kaziranga National Park.

Loved the pose of the Buffalo submerged to its nose with a Heron piggy backing on it. The wide sweep of the horns made for an impressive viewing.

I think more DOF was eminently possible. Goofed up there.

    EOS 7d + 300f4+ 1.4x II @ f5.6, 1/400, ISO 400.

    Look forward to comments.

    Cheers

Lovely to see it in water. Agree the horns look great. The reflection looks nice. Was a lower angle possible? Agree about the DOF. Thanks for sharing.

Nice pose. Did you click this from a jeep? I think a higher +ve exposure compensation would have been better and a greater depth of field would have been better as well. Lower shutter speed would have been fine as the buffalo was not moving in the water. Love the fine horns. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely image. The horns looks nice and the ears also complement the image. The heron is looking the other way, would have been more interesting if it were looking towards you. thanks for sharing.

    Thankyou all for comments.

Mrudul :Since my visit to Kutch and Talchaper, I have been enjoying taking low level shots and wanted to step off the Jeep here as well, However the accompanying armed guard reminded me how in the previous days safari, we saw a female Buffalo raging through some scrub because we suspect there was a tiger in there. I took one look down the embankment and decided that prudence was the order of the day ...!!!

Sabyasachi : Agree, a positive compensation was perfectly feasible here.

    Regards

    Dipankar
