The motion feel at low shutter speed looks good.
Have tested A-DEP mode before, its not a good mode to work with. The photographer does not have any control on aperture and the shutter speed. You'll have more misses than hits while working with this mode.

You needed a bit higher shutter speed for panning this.
Please check the example in your manual for explanation of A-DEP mode.
You should decide the aperture and shutter speed, rather than leave it to chance.
