    Very very rare sighting. Lovely composition showing close family bond. It is short-tailed Himalayan Marmot (Marmota bobak) and its ID: dark-brown face and pale, tawny colour documented so well. Many thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

    Nice to see the marmots. These rolly polly creatures despite their small size serve as prey for snow leopards. I had seen them a lot while visiting Khardungla pass. They have many entrances and exits in their underground dens. George Schaller has some fine observations about these marmots.

    I was supposed to renew my acquaintances with them. Unfortunately, my shoot with a foreign crew in ladakh had to be postponed to next year, as one american lady was sexually assaulted in manali and the Government stopped giving visas to foreigners to visit that area.

    Wow very rare to see a family of marmots in the open. The low angle adds to the composition. Good details. Lovely capture. Thanks for sharing.
