hi sabyasachi, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I read in the internet abt sighting of this owl in nannaj, so i pestered a forest person and talked to FRO also, finally he accompanied me to this place, it is near Solapur may ne 5 kms, via a narrow road, past the cement factory there is a canal, known as kegaon canal, there forest person spotted it for me. this being the only assisted sighting for me there.

Dear Subhas - Why do you say this is Eurasian Eagle Owl - why not Indian Eagle Owl? The facial discs are more darker and pronounced in this case. Also EEO is found more in the Himalayas and as you mentioned you saw this near Solapur.
